Q. In the given figure, $V_{B B}$ supply can be varied from $0V$ to $5V.$ The Si transistor has $\beta _{D C}=250$ and $R_{B}=100k\Omega ,R_{C}=1k\Omega ,V_{C C}=5V$ Assume that, when the transistor is saturated $V_{C E}=0V$ and $V_{B E}=0.8V.$ The minimum base current for which the transistor will reach saturation is

Solution:

At saturation, $V_{C E}=0V$
$V_{B E}=0.8V$
$\therefore V_{C E}=V_{C C}-I_{C}R_{C}$
$Ol_{C}=\frac{V_{C C}}{R_{C}}=\frac{5 V}{1 k\Omega }=5μA$
And $I_{B}=\frac{I_{C}}{\beta }=\frac{5 μA}{250}=20μA$
