$2 N \sin \theta=m g$
$N=\frac{m g}{2} \text{cosec} \theta=\frac{m g}{2} \frac{R}{\sqrt{R^{2}-\frac{l^{2}}{4}}}$

When $l=R$,
$N=\frac{m g}{2} \frac{R}{\sqrt{\frac{3 R^{2}}{4}}}=\frac{m g}{\sqrt{3}}$
