Q. In the figure shown a block of weight 10 N is resting on a horizontal surface (figure). The coefficient of static friction between the block and surface is

Solution:

Since, the force of 3.5 N will keep the block in uniform motion it means no net force will act on the body as the applied force of 3.5 N is just sufficient to overcome the force of friction. If the force applied is less than 3.5 N the block will not move. Hence, when 3N is applied, block will not move.
