In electrolytic cell electrolysis occur at the cost of electricity :
At cathode : $M ^{n+}+n e \longrightarrow M$
(electron gone in solution)
At anode : $ X^{n} \longrightarrow X+n e^{-}$
(electron supplied to anode)
Therefore, electron is moving from cathode to anode via internal circuit.
