Solution:

As soon as the p-n function is formed, there is an immediate diffusion of the charge carrier across the junction due to thermal agitation. After diffusion, these charge carriers combine with their counterparts and neutralise each other. Therefore correct direction of flow carriers is depicted in figure (b).
