Q. In some solutions, the concentration of $\text{H}_{\text{3}} \text{O}^{\text{+}}$ remains constant even when small amounts of strong acid or strong base are added to them. These solutions are known as :

Solution:

In acidic Buffer solutions when

$\text{pH} = \text{pKa} + \text{log} \frac{\left[\text{Salt}\right]}{\left[\text{Acid}\right]}$

pH is not disturbed i.e $\left[\text{H}_{\text{3}} \text{O}^{\text{+}}\right] ,$ remains constant on addition of small quantity of acid or Base.
