Transcription is the mechanism of copying the message of DNA on RNA with the help of enzyme RNA polymerase. It is meant for taking the coded information from DNA to the site where it is required for protein synthesis. Translation or protein synthesis is a complicated process involving several steps such as - activation of amino acid, transfer of amino acid to /-RNA, initiation of polypeptide synthesis, elongation of polypeptide chain and, termination of polypeptide chain. This entire process occurs in the cytoplasm over the ribosomes. Transcription and translation are two entirely different processes that are separated by time and space.
