In 1898, Camillo Golgi discovered Golgi bodies as densely stained reticular structure. They are found near the nucleus in animal cell.
In plant cells, Golgi apparatus is formed of a number of unconnected units called dictyosomes. Their number in plant cell is highly variable.The Golgi body forms the cell plate during cellular division by secreting hemicellulose so the number of Golgi bodies increases during cell division
