$N - $ type semiconductors are those formed by doping the intrinsic semiconductor with an element which has got more outer most shell electrons than the parent instrinsic semiconductor. When this sort of an element is used for doping, we get more free electrons in the semiconductor and so the majority charge carriers is electrons.
