In human males urethra is around $20 \, cm$ long. About $2.5 \, cm$ of urethra lies in the prostate (prostatic urethra), about $2.5 \, cm$ of urethra lies between prostate gland and penis (membranous urethra) and about $15 \, cm$ of urethra lies in the corpus spongiosum of penis (penile urethra or spongy urethra). The prostatic urethra is connected to urinary bladder and is internally lined by transitional epithelium or urothelium. The major part of urethra (membranous and penile) has pseudostratified non-ciliated columnar epithelium. The part of the urethra present in the glans penis has non-keratinised stratified squamous epithelium
