Q. In gyandromorphs

Bihar CECEBihar CECE 2008

Solution:

Gynandromorphs are sex mosaic having separate male and female part or tissue in the same body. Gynandromorphs result due to loss of an X-chromosome in a particular cell during development. In gynandromorph out of two celled proembryo, one cell has 2A + XX chromosomal composition while other has 2A+X. These are commonly seen in fruitfly, bees and moths. Availability of gynandromorphs and their cytological examination suggested that Y-chromosome does not play any role in determination of sex in Drosophila.
