NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020

Solution:

Kingdom Fungi or Eumycota is one of the most diverse kingdoms present in the whole group of organisms. The salient features of this group are:
1. The body organization is thalloid and not differentiated into body parts.
2. The body is made up of microscopic threads, called hyphae, and they are in the form of a web, called the Mycelium. Hypha is the unit structure of mycelium.
3. Hyphae may be septate, in which partitions are present, or aseptate (= coenocytic), in which partitions are absent.
4. The hyphal wall is made up of fungal cellulose, in which the cellulose is impregnated with chitin and contains Nitrogen along with C and H.
5. The sex organs are simple, mostly unicellular. Fungi may be called holocarpic, when the whole body forms a sex organ (like yeast), or eucarpic, when part of the body is involved in the formation of the reproductive structure.
6. Glycogen and oil is a reserve food material in fungal cells.
