Q. In dicot plants, after triple fusion, the central cell and zygote would develop into, respectively:

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2020Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants

Solution:

The central cell after triple fusion becomes the primary endosperm cell (PEC) and develops into the endosperm while the zygote develops into an embryo. Mostly the zygote develops only after certain amount of endosperm is formed to ensure that nutrition will be provided for the developing embryo.
The embryo develops at the micropylar end of the ovule. Dicot plants have 2 cotyledons and an embryoal axis. The portion above the cotyledons is called the epicotyl, it terminates with the plumule. The portion below the cotyledons is called the hypocotyl and terminates with the radicle and root cap.
After the embryo develops the root grows towards the micropylar end, while the plumule grows towards the chalazal end
Solution
The stages of embryogeny in a dicotyledonous embryo. The zygote gives rise to the pre-embryo and subsequently to the globular, heart-shaped and mature embryo.
In the dicot stem the embryo consists of an embryonal axis, two cotyledons, Pulmule, radical or root tip. The root tip is covered with root cap.
