Solution:

$\frac{1}{f}=(\mu-1)\left(\frac{1}{R_{1}}-\frac{1}{R_{2}}\right)=\frac{1}{40}$
$\frac{1}{v}-\frac{1}{u}=\frac{1}{f} \Rightarrow \frac{1}{(d-20)}-\frac{1}{(-80)}=\frac{1}{40}$
$\frac{1}{(d-20)}=\frac{2}{80}-\frac{1}{80}=\frac{1}{80}$
$d=25+80=105\, cm =21 \times 5\, cm$
Hence $x=5\, cm$
