Q. In certain cell, genetic recombination can occur during

Principles of Inheritance and Variation

Solution:

Meiosis or meiotic division leads to formation of daughter cells in which chromosome number is reduced to half as compared to parent cell. Meiosis involves exchange of genes between homologous chromosomes. Hence, the gametes produced are genetically different from each other. Offsprings produced by the fusion of gametes, therefore, also show recombinations or genetic variations.
