Q. In castor and maize plants, _________

KCETKCET 2014Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants

Solution:

In maize and castor plants, unisexual flowers are present.
The flowers are known as unisexual when there are separate sex organs in separate flowers.
However, both the male and female flowers can be present on the same plant. Since there are separate flowers which prevent autogamy. But both the flowers are borne on the same plant. This induces the chances of geitonogamy.
