Q. In anomalous expansion of water, at what temperature, the density of water is maximum ?

KCETKCET 2014Thermal Properties of Matter

Solution:

When cooled from room temperature liquid water becomes dense, as with other substances, but at approximately $4^{\circ} C$ (39 F), pure water reaches its maximum density. If it is cooled further, it expands to become less dense.
