In an octahedral crystal field splitting three $ {{d}_{xy}},{{d}_{{{y}^{2}}}} $ and $ {{d}_{xz}}({{t}_{2g}}) $ metal orbitals are lowered in energy and two $ {{d}_{{{x}^{2}}-{{y}^{2}}}} $ and $ {{d}_{{{z}^{2}}}}({{e}_{g}}) $ orbitals are raised in energy.
