Q. In an $LCR$ circuit shown in the following figure, what will be the readings of the voltmeter across the resistor and ammeter if an $a.c.$ source of $220V$ and $100\, Hz$ is connected to it as shown?Physics Question Image

AIEEEAIEEE 2012Alternating Current

Solution:

In case of series RLC circuit, Equation of voltage is given by
$V^{2}=V^{2}_{R}+\left(V_{L}-V_{C}^{2}\right)$
Here, $V=220\,V; V_{L}=V_{C}=300\,V$
$\therefore V_{R}=\sqrt{V^{2}}=220V$
$Current \,i =\frac{V}{R}=\frac{220}{100}=2.2A$
