Q. In an experiment, individual homozygous for ' $ab$ ' gene, were crossed with wild type. The $F_{1}$ hybrid was test crossed and progenies produced in following ratio :
$++/ab \rightarrow 896$
$ab/ab \rightarrow 880$
$+a/ab \rightarrow 108$
$+b/ab \rightarrow 116$
Calculate the distance between $a$ and $b$ gene

Solution:

The distance between c and d genes can be calculated by the following formula:
= (Recombinants / Total individuals) $\times 100$
Total individuals = $2000$
Recombinants = $224$
$=\left(\right.224/2000\left.\right)\times 100=11.2$
