Solution:

Theoretically, human vertebral column consists of 33 vertebrae - 7 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 lumbar, 5 sacral and 4 coccygeal. However, it consists of 26 bones as five sacral vertebrae fuse to form one sacrum and four coccygeal vertebrae fuse to form one coccyx.
