Q. In a semiconductor diode, $P$ side is earthed and $N$ side is applied to a potential of $2 \,V$. The diode shall :

J & K CETJ & K CET 2000

Solution:

In the given case p-type crystal is earthed and n-type is connected to the positive, thus giving rise to reverse bias set up. Thus, holes and electrons both are away from the junction, hence the flow of current stops completely and the diode does not conduct.
