Q. In a P-type semiconductor, the acceptor impurity produces an energy level

VITEEEVITEEE 2006

Solution:

In p-type semiconductor, valency = 3, thus there is one unformed bond or hole created. This hole is in valence band and is able to cause hole current. The energy levels of acceptor are in forbidden gap just above valence band
