Q. If $x \,g$ of $A$ (atomic mass 50 ) contains $n$ atoms, how many atoms are there in $20 x$ g of elements B: (at wt. 100)
Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry
A
$n$
9%
B
$10 \,n$
34%
C
$20 n $
41%
D
$n / 10$
16%
Solution:
For $A$
$50 \,g\, A$ would contain atoms $= N _{ A }$
$x \,g$ A would contain atoms $=\frac{ N _{ A }}{50} \times x g = n$ atoms
For $B$
$100 \,g\, B$ would contains atoms $= N _{ A }$
$20 \,xg \,B$ would contains atoms $=\frac{ N _{ A }}{100} \times 20 xg =\frac{ N _{ A }}{5} x$
$\frac{ N _{ A }}{50} x$ corresponds to atoms $= n$
$ \frac{ N _{ A }}{5} x$ corresponds to atoms $=\frac{ n }{\frac{ N _{ A } x}{50}} \times \frac{ N _{ A }}{5} x$
$=\frac{ n \times 50}{ N _{ A } x} \times \frac{ N _{ A }}{5} x $
$=10 \,n$
