Q. If two mirrors are kept at $60^{\circ}$ to each other and a body is placed at the middle, then total number of images formed, is

AIIMSAIIMS 1997Ray Optics and Optical Instruments

Solution:

Since the angle of inclination $\theta=60^{\circ}$
$\therefore n=\frac{360^{\circ}}{60^{\circ}}=6$ which is even
$\therefore $ no. of images formed for any position of the object in between the mirrors $= 6 - 1 = 5 $
$\left(n\right)=\frac{360^{\circ}}{\theta}-1$
$ \Rightarrow \frac{360^{\circ}}{60}-1$
$ \Rightarrow 6-1$
$ \Rightarrow 5$
