Q. If the selling price of a suit case at $5 \%$ profit is Rs. 1440 , then its cost price is

Profit and Loss, Discount and Partnership

Solution:

Selling price of a suit case $=$ Rs. 1440
$ \text { Profit }=5 \% $
$\text { Cost price of suit case }=\frac{100}{100+\text { Gain } \%} \times \text { S.P. }$
$=\frac{100}{100+5} \times 1440$
$=\frac{100}{105} \times 1440$
$=\text { Rs. } 1371.42 $
$ \approx \text { Rs. } 1371$
