Q. If the $Q$ value of a nuclear reaction where a nucleus with mass number $230$ initially at rest emits an $\alpha $ particle is $6.5MeV$ , the kinetic energy of the $\alpha $ particle is $\frac{x}{100}MeV$ . Find $x$ .

Solution:

$K_{\alpha }=\frac{\left(\right. A - 4 \left.\right)}{A}Q$
Here, $A=230,Q=6.5MeV$
$K_{\alpha }=\left(\frac{230 - 4}{230}\right)\times 6.5MeV$
$=\left(\frac{226}{230}\right)\times 6.5MeV$
$=\frac{639}{100}MeV$
