Q. If the plates of a parallel plate capacitor are not equal in area, then quantity of charge

MHT CETMHT CET 2006Electrostatic Potential and Capacitance

Solution:

The charge stored on the capacitor depends on the potential difference between the plates
$Q \propto V$
Since the potential difference between the plates is same so the charges on both the plates are alike.
Due the difference in the area difference of the capacitor there will be fringing effect and the capacitance will vary not the charge.
$C =\frac{\varepsilon_{0} A }{ d }$
