Q. If the gravitational force were proportional to $\frac{1}{r}$, then a particle in a circular orbit under such a force would have its original speed :

Gravitation

Solution:

If the gravitational force is inversely proportional to $r$ then this force will provide the necessary centripetal force for circular motion of the particle and the radius $r$ in denominator of both terms will cancel and the speed will be independent of $r$.
