Solution:

The equation of transverse wave is $ y=5\sin 2\pi \left[ \frac{t}{0.04}-\frac{x}{40} \right] $ ??.(i) Now standard equation of transverse wave is $ y=a\,\sin 2\pi \left[ \frac{t}{T}-\frac{x}{\lambda } \right] $ ??(ii) Comparing equations (i) and (ii), we get $ \frac{x}{\lambda }=\frac{x}{40} $ or $ \lambda =40cm $
