Q. If the diploid number of an angiospermic plant is $24$, the number of chromosomes in pollen grain, endosperm and integument will be

ManipalManipal 2015

Solution:

The diploid number of the angiospermic plant is $24$. So, as $2 n =24, n =12$. Pollen grains are haploid. Hence, the number of chromosomes in pollen grains will be $12$. Endosperm is triploid, so it will have $3 n =36$ chromosomes and integument is diploid in nature so the number of chromosomes will be $2 n =24$.
