Q. If magnetic quantum number of a given atom is represented by $-3$, then what will be its principal quantum number?

BHUBHU 2005

Solution:

If the highest value of magnetic quantum Number
$ =-3 $ then, $ l=3 $
( $ \because $ m has value from -1 to o, $ +l $ )
$ \therefore $ $ n=4 $ ( $ \because $ I has values form 0 to $ n-1 $ )
