Q. If dissociation for reaction, $PCl_{5} \rightleftharpoons PCl_{3} + Cl_{2}$, is $20\%$ at $1$ atm pressure. Calculate $K_{c}$.

Equilibrium

Solution:

$K_{c} =\frac{\left[PCl_{3}\right]\left[Cl_{2}\right]}{\left[PCl_{5}\right]}=\frac{\left[\frac{20}{100}\right]\times\left[\frac{20}{1000}\right]}{\left[\frac{80}{100}\right]}$
$=\frac{0.2 \times0.2}{0.8}=\frac{0.04}{0.8}=0.05$
