Q. If at $298K$ the bond energies of $C-H,C-C,C=C$ and $H-H$ bonds are $414,347,615$ and $435kJmol^{- 1}$ respectively, the value of enthalpy change for the reaction. $\left(CH\right)_{2}=\left(CH\right)_{2 \left(g\right)}+H_{2 \left(g\right)} \rightarrow \left(CH\right)_{3}-\left(CH\right)_{3 \left(g\right)}298K$ will be :

Solution:

$CH_{2}=CH_{2}+H_{2} \rightarrow CH_{3}-CH_{3}$
$\triangle H=H_{R}-H_{P}$
$\triangle H=615+4\times 414+435-\left[347 + 6 \times 414\right]$
$\triangle H=-125kJ$
