Q. If absolute error is $0.05$ in for a measured length of $5\, m$. What is the percentage error?
TS EAMCET 2020
A
$1 \%$
B
$2 \%$
C
$3 \%$
D
$4 \%$
Solution:
Given, absolute error in length, $\Delta l=0.05 m$
Measured length, $l=5 m$
The fractional error in length $=\frac{\Delta l}{l}$
$\therefore $ Percentage error in length
$=$ Fractional error $\times 100$
$=\frac{\Delta l}{l} \times 100=\frac{0.05}{5} \times 100=1 \%$
