Q. If a gas is compressed adiabatically by doing work of $ 150 \,J $ , the change in internal energy of the gas is

Thermodynamics

Solution:

Since the gas is compressed adiabatically, then
$ dQ = 0 $ and $ dW = -150 \,J $
From first law of thermodynamics
$ dQ = dU + dW $
$ \therefore dU = - dW = -(-150) = 150\, J $
