Q. If $500\,mL$ of a $5\, M$ solution is diluted to $1500\, mL$, what will be the molarity of the solution obtained?

Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry

Solution:

$M_{1}V_{1} = M_{2}V_{2} $
$ 5\,M\times 500\, mL = M_{2}\times 1500 \,mL $
$\therefore M_{2}= \frac{5\times 500}{1500} = 1.66 \,M$
