Q. If 400 pollen grains are produced from a single monothecous anther from its components equally, what is the number of pollen grain mother cells in each of the sporangia ?

Sexual Reproduction in Flowering Plants

Solution:

If 400 pollen grains are produced from a single monothecous anther, the number of pollen grain mother cell will be 50. Because monothecous anther contains two sporangia. Each sporangium will contain 50 microspore mother cell which produce 200 pollen grains after reduction division. So, total 50 + 50 = 100 microspore mother cell will produce 400 pollen grains
