The position of the ovary in a flower can be different for different flowers. Some flowers have a superior ovary (hypogyny), where all the other parts of the flower are below it. Such condition is seen in china rose. Some flowers have an inferior ovary (epigyny), where all the other parts of the flower lie above it. Such condition is seen in cucumber. Some flowers have a half-inferior ovary (perigyny), gynoecium is situated in the centre and other parts of the flower are located on the rim of the thalamus almost at the same level. Such condition is seen in peach.
