Q. Identify the collect statements
I) Germanium exists only in traces.
II) The order of electronegativity of $Si, Ge, Sn$ is $Sn > Ge > Si$.
III) All group $14$ elements are available in solid state

AP EAMCETAP EAMCET 2019

Solution:

I. Silicon is the second most and carbon is the seventeenth most abundant element (by mass) in the earth crust. $Ge, S n$ and $P b$ are present in trace amounts.

II. On moving down the group $14$,

electronegativity decreases from $C$ to $Si$ and then become constant.

III. All the elements of group $14$ are available in solid state. Thus, statements (I) and (III) are correct.
