GnRH is secreted by the hypothalamus. It acts on the anterior pituitary. It stimulates the secretion of gonadotropins i.e. FSH and LH from the anterior pituitary. FSH has an action on the Sertoli cells. It stimulates them to produce certain factors which help in the process of spermiogenesis i.e. maturation of spermatids into spermatozoa. LH acts on the Leydig cells of the testis. It stimulates these cells to secrete androgens like testosterone. These androgens are required for the process of spermatogenesis i.e. formation of spermatozoa.
