Q. Identify CORRECTLY matched pair.

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

Meiosis is divided into two stages of division - Meiosis I and II. Of the two stages, meiosis II is similar to mitosis division phase. Meiosis I is involved in the paring and recombination of the homologous chromosomes.
Zygotene stage is observed in prophase-I of meiosis-I divisional phase. In this stage chromosomes start pairing together forming an association called synapsis. This pairing is observed between homologous chromosomes. This synapsis results in formation of a complex structure called synaptonemal complex.
Crossing over is observed in pachytene stage of prophase-I where exchange of genetic materials occurs. In diakinesis the paired of chromosomes separate resulting in terminalisation of chiasmata.
Diplotene stage is marked by the dissolution of the synaptonemal complex and separation of the recombined homologous chromosomes of the bivalents.
