Ringworm is not an enteric disease, it is a fungal infection of the skin. Enteric infection is an infection of the small intestine. Microsporum, Trichophyton, and Epidermophyton (fungi) cause ringworms (one of the most common infectious diseases in humans).
Mode of infection: Generally acquired from soil or by using towels, clothes, combs of infected individuals.
Sign and symptoms: Dry, scaly lesions on various parts of the body- skin, nails, and scalp, intense itching, etc.
Heat and moisture promote the growth of fungi. These fungi grow in skin folds in the groin or between the toes.
