Hypothalamus is a part of limbic system of forebrain which synthesises certain hypothalamic hormones which stimulate other glands like pituitary, thyroid etc. to release their hormones. Hypothalamus has centres for body temperature control , urge for eating and drinking and regulation of sexual behaviour and motivation.
The centre for thinking and reasoning is cerebrum.
