Q. How many types of gametes can be formed by the $F_{1}$ progeny, resulting from the following cross?
$\text{AABBCC}\times \text{aabbcc}$

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

Types of gametes = $2^{n}$
n = number of heterozygotes considered i.e., monohybrid cross (n = 1), dihybrid cross (n = 2), trihybrid cross (n = 3) and so on.
$\text{AABBCC} \times \text{aabbcc}$ is a trihybrid cross, therefore, different types of gametes are = $2^{n}$
$n=3=\left(\right. 2 \left.\right)^{3}$ $= 2 \times 2 \times 2 = 8$ .
