Q. How many chromosomes will the diploid cell have at G1, after S and after M-phase respectively if the haploid cell has 7 chromosomes?

NTA AbhyasNTA Abhyas 2022

Solution:

Cell division consists of interphase and mitotic phase. The interphase consists of $G_{1}, \, S$ and $G_{2}$ phases. If M phase is mitosis then all the phases of interphase will have the diploid ploidy level. Thus $G_{1}, \, S$ and $G_{2}$ will have 2n chromosomes i.e. 14 chromosomes.
