Q. How many ATP molecules can be produced through oxidative phosphorylation of $2 \,NADH _2$ and $3\, FADH _2$ ?

Respiration in Plants

Solution:

Oxidation of molecule of NADH gives rise to 3 molecules of ATP, while that of one molecule of $FADH _2$ produces 2 molecules of ATP.
Therefore $2 NADH _2=6$ ATP molecules
$3 FADH _2=6$ ATP molecules
Total $=12$ ATP molecules
