Solution:

Laminaria is an example of class-Phaeophyceae (brown algae). Their plant body is usually attached to the substratum by a holdfast and has a stalk, the stipe and leaf-like photosynthetic organ, the frond. Other examples, i.e. Volvox, Chara and Chlamydomonas are green algae.
