Q. Greenhouse effect refers to

UP CPMTUP CPMT 2004

Solution:

Green house effect are effect in which short wavelengtth solar radiation entering the earths atmosphere is re-radiated from the earths surface in the longer wavelength and is then reabsorbed by components of the atmosphere to become an important factor in heating the total atmosphere. $O_3$, $CO_2$ and $H_2O$ vapour all absorb the infrared wavelengths. Increasing amounts of $CO$, from combustion of fossil fuels is a growing factor in raising the mean atmospheric temperature. This effect resembles heat reflection by a glasshouse.
