Q. Given below are two reaction sequences.

For REACTION $-2,z=$ total no. of organic products including stereoisomer. Find value of $\left(x + z\right)$ (nearest integer)

Solution:

$S_{N}2$ at Vinylic carbon and at bridge-head carbon of non-fused bicyclo rings NOT POSSIBLE, but $ArS_{N}$ via carbanion occurs at phenylic $Cl$ , Product $A$ of the reaction sequence $-1$ is,

$ArS_{N}$ via Benzyne give ipso substitution and cine substitution products (two structural isomers in this case) which on further reaction with $HBr/ROOR$ (Kharasch Effect) do not give any stereo products as no new chiral centre is generated, hence final products for reaction sequence $-2$ are Solution
So, $x=\frac{80 \times 1}{35 . 5 \times 1}=2.25$ and $z=2$ , Hence value of $\left(x + z\right)=4.25$
